Gingham Midi Dress Perfect For Summers

Gingham Midi Dress – Macys | Espadrille – Charlotte Russe | Sunglasses – Nordstrom | Watch – Fossil

Gingham dresses are some of my favorites for summer. You can’t go wrong with a good gingham dress. I’m sure you’ve seen everywhere that gingham and check print is a raging trend this Spring and Summer.  From darling tops, to skirts, and dresses, this is such a fun print and it’s a great way to add interest to your wardrobe without being too trendy!  There are trends that are here for a hot minute, and then there are trends that come in waves, but will always be back.

Ah, this dress is seriously one of my favorites right now and should just be part of your summer wardrobe!  I’m in love with gingham for the summers but add in ruffles and an off-shoulder style and I’m literally swooning!  Gingham is such a timeless print and perfect for when you want to look classic and effortlessly put together. This dress is the perfect errand running, chilling out, and having a picnic at the park kind of dress. Anything and everything you can think of, this dress is just too good to pass up.

This gingham dress combines a variety of classic & trendy! Classic:  The black and white print. It goes with every color and gives you endless style possibilities!  Trendy:  The (OTS) off-the shoulder trend is huge right now! There’s just something about this simple, checked pattern that feels timeless and effortless. On the real, this midi dress gives me all the feels. The fabric is so soft and comfortable, and the fit is very flattering and pretty. It’s such a great dress for spring and all summer long, and the length makes it perfect for work as well!

Also, the red and white lace up espadrille are one of my favorite things I’ve ever bought! I love that the heel is low enough to walk in, but comfortable enough to wear for hours on end. The tie up detail also helps because the straps are super soft & don’t cause any blisters. Because I have sensitive feet, I always get super excited to find shoes that are comfortable. No matter the case, you’ll LOVE this espadrille.

Summer is still on and so is gingham. That iconic, checkerboard print most commonly seen in blue and red. Personally, I LOVE gingham. As a teenager I had my bedroom decked out in blue gingham and daisies. I have the best memories in that gabled room overlooking my Dad’s farm. When it comes to incorporating this timeless plaid into the wardrobe, though, things can get tricky. How do you wear gingham without looking like you are wearing a table cloth? Well here are a few of my style tips for rocking this statement making trend.

Opt for Well-Fitted Garments

I love my gingham dress with a casual swing to get the girl next door look. Choose tailored and structured designs that compliment the body to avoid the more unflattering side of wearing a checkered print. I love this off the shoulder dress from Macys because it’s made in a flattering midi length with a tie at the waist to highlight my shape and a trendy off the shoulder ruffle to draw the eye upwards to my shoulders and face.

Choose Your Accessories Wisely

I found it tempting to pair this with a striking red block heel, but decided to shy away from them as it would make this outfit appear more like a costume than everyday wear. Instead I opted for trendy subtle red wedge heels. I added in a choker, round tortoise shell sunnies, to make the complete ensemble feel modern and appropriate for brunch, a festival, or picnic in the park with hubby.

Gingham print may seem all too trendy, but it’s truly an iconic statement that will continue to evolve and return to the fashion scene time and time again. Have fun with it and see what creative ways you can showcase gingham in your own stylish way.
